Science behind biophysical programs
There is ample scientific literature not only to substantiate the effectiveness of the detoxification method used in a biophysical program*, proving that it reduces and eliminates the toxins stored in fat and frees chemically exposed individuals, but also shows that the detoxification method is very safe with no serious side effects.
An initial study was done of the detoxification program of over 100 individuals to demonstrate the safety of this program and any medical complications or problems that could occur during the program. Before beginning the detoxification process each individual underwent a physical examination and blood and urine specimens were taken and tested to check the overall physical health of the individual before starting the program.
Out of the more than 100 people undergoing the detoxification process, medical complications occurred in 3 percent of the individuals. All medical problems were very minor. One individual had an ear infection. Another had diarrhea, and another had pneumonia. These occurred during the three weeks of the detox program.
Some benefits of this program as shown by the study were reductions in blood pressure and cholesterol and improvements in psychological test scores done during the program.
The Hubbard sauna detoxification program is designed to eliminate chemicals and toxins stored in the fatty tissue of the body such as pesticides and insecticides as well as residues left by short term and long term drug use. This detoxification method has been shown to reduce levels of chemicals and eliminate them from the body

Drugs Store in the Body
Most drugs are made from an oil base and tend to be lipophilic which means that they have absorbability in lipids (fat). Drug residues, depending on the use have a large distribution in the body and deposit in the fat tissues, accumulating there for extended periods of time.
This contributes to physical cravings for drugs which inevitably leads to relapse. Research has shown that drugs such as LSD, cocaine and methamphetamine move rapidly through the body and store in the fat and store there for some time. PCP has been shown to accumulate in both the brain and fatty tissues of the body.
Even drugs that are very widely prescribed today like benzodiazepines have been found to distribute and persist in the body storing in the fat tissues. This is also the case with certain metabolites of alcohol, although it is a water soluble substance. In fact, metabolites of alcohol were found in the fat and liver following use, according to the study.
THC is one of the most fat soluble substances. According to the study, this is a compound that is metabolized into over 60 different specific chemicals after ingestion/inhalation - a property that makes detection particularly difficult.
The accumulation and storing of drug and alcohol metabolites in the body contributes to negative short term and long term health effects as well as negative behavioral effects on the individual and the only known method to safely remove these residues from the body is this detoxification method*.
Evidence Backed up by CDC
The CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) recently released it's third report on July 21st, 2005 proving that there are more than 116 toxic chemical that can be found in an individual's body.
The chemicals found ranged from insecticides and pesticides to tobacco smoke and even dangerous metals such as Mercury. The report released by the CDC titled, National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals, provides an ongoing assessment of the exposure of the U.S. population to environmental chemicals using biomonitoring. Biomonitoring is the assessment of human exposure to chemicals by measuring the chemicals or their metabolites in human specimens such as blood or urine.
*Method used is the Hubbard detoxification protocol. For more information and specific studies check out the International Academy of Detoxification Specialists.
